On March 6, 2006, Lexington voted to adopt the Community Preservation Act.  The CPA provides a funding source for:

Ø Acquisition and preservation of open space

Ø Creation and support of affordable housing

Ø Acquisition and preservation of historic buildings

Ø Creation and support of recreational facilities

Lexington's Community Preservation Fund will derive funding from a 3% surcharge on local real estate taxes and matching funds from the Commonwealth.  The Community Preservation Committee recommends CPA projects to Town Meeting, which makes the final decision on uses of CPA funds.
