HEATING

Is thermostat set at 68 in the day and 60 at night?

Do you have a clock thermostat?

Do you clean and adjust thermostat regularly?

Do you close shades at night to keep heat in?

Does your insulation meet the following minimum values?: ceilings R-30, walls R-12.5, floors R-20, foundations R-12.5

Are the following areas caulked or weather-stripped?: exterior baseboards, windows & exterior doors, exterior wall outlets, radiator pipes, attic hatch, ceiling light fixtures, fireplace damper, A.C.(cover or remove), mail chute, door & window frames,outside faucets & wire holes, between dissimilar metals

Do you vacuum all radiators?

Is dryer vent flap closed?

Do you only heat rooms in use?

Is heating system fine-tuned?

Did you remove all awnings? Are ducts and pipes insulated?

Are storm windows up?

Do you have a motorized flue damper?

Do you close fireplace damper when fireplace is not in use?

WATER

Is tank well insulated?

Is heater set at 140 if you have a dishwasher; 110 if none?

Do you take showers, not baths?

Do you set back water heater when no one is home for at least 2 days?

Did you insulate all hot water pipes?

Do you have a flow restrictor on your shower head; a water dam in your toilet tank?

GENERAL

Do you turn off the radio and TV when no one is in the room?

Have you looked into alternate energy (solar, wind, etc.l?

Do you keep your home well maintained? (See MAINTENANCE checklist)

Did you plant trees to act as a windbreak and provide shade?

Do you wear warm clothing?

Have you had a home energy audit and followed recommendations?

KITCHEN

Do you run disposal on cold water?

Does the gasket fit tightly on refrigerator door?

Do you think about what you want before opening the refrigerator?

Are the refrigerator coils clean?

Do you only preheat oven when required?

Do you turn off oven or stove just before cooking is complete?

Do you cook more than one dish at a time in the oven?

Do you use dishwasher only if full? Do you let dishes air dry?

COOLING

	Do you use window awnings?
	Do you clean A.C. filters?
	Is the A.C. off when you're away?
	Is A.C. set at 78 minimum?
	Do you use a timer for your A.C.?
	Do you raise A.C. temperature by 6 to 8 degrees when you're asleep?
	Do you use fans or natural ventilation when it is cool outside?
	Is attic ventilation adequate?
	Is A.C. compressor in the shade?
	Do you only cool rooms in use?
	Are A.C. ducts insulated?
	Is suction line of whole house A.C. insulated?
	Do you open fireplace damper?

LIGHTING

	Do you use fluorescent lighting where possible?
	Are lights off when not needed?
	Are dimmers used where possible?
	Do you use low wattage bulbs in halls and closets?
	Do you use energy-saving bulbs?
