POLICE DEPARTMENT PURCHASES TRAILER

The Lexington Police Department has received a grant for $5,000 for participating in the 2005-2006 Click it or Ticket mobilization.  The funds, granted for traffic safety equipment, were used to purchase a new motorcycle trailer.  The trailer will be used to transport the department’s motorcycle to training sessions, equipment to car seat checkpoints and traffic equipment around town during emergency situations.

The Click it or Ticket mobilizations run six times per year and focus enforcement efforts towards operating under the influence of alcohol, seat belt violations and aggressive driving.  These mobilizations are funded by the Governor’s Highway Safety Bureau and allow the Lexington Police Department to supplement patrol to focus on violations.
