OVERRIDE IMPACT
As
a result of the June 2003 town override vote, Town Clerk services have
been reduced. Our ability to provide the quality services that the community has
expected and deserved has been dramatically impacted. The loss
of one department full-time position requires elimination of some
discretionary services. Requests for public documents may have to be requested in
advance, prepayment made, and be fulfilled within the statutory 10 days.
We will
no longer be able to supply notary service. Sale of state fishing
and hunting licenses has been eliminated. These licenses may be
purchased via the internet. The public may experience telephone voice mail due to staff
reduction. |
| Services impacted: |
 | Elimination of preservation of historical papers, ledgers and
fragile materials |
|
 | Public Notary, Fish & Wildlife Licensing services discontinued |
|
 | Town Meeting support reduced |
|
 | Elimination of one staff requires supplementation during peak times; including
elections |
|
 | Telephone inquires may incur voice mail due to staff reduction |
|
|
Service Impacts Across the Organization |
 | Cessation of Notary Services. Citizens requiring notary
services will need to find private notaries.
|
 | Increased Response Time. Customers who visit in-person
should expect longer wait times in most departments due to sheer volume of
requests at certain times.
|
 | Time delay on information requests. Requests for
information will not be filled immediately on a drop-in basis. However,
all requests for information will be responded to within 10 days.
|
 | Appointments are suggested for more complicated visits
to the various offices. |
 | Phone inquiries will be answered as they are received.
Callers may leave a voicemail message. |
