Resident Yard Waste Dropoff at
Hartwell Avenue - The Hartwell Avenue Compost Facility is open;
please see dates and times
below.
>Biodegradable bags filled with yard waste
may be left at the facility.
>Plastic bags used to transport yard waste
must be removed by the resident.
Approved
yard waste for resident dropoff includes: leaves, grass clippings,
dead flowers or plants, wood chips, hedge clippings, pine needles and brush
4 inches or less in diameter. Brush is collected in a separate brush
pile at the facility.
*Severe weather may preclude opening the facility on a
particular day, please call 781-861-2757 to verify it is open in inclement
weather. The site will be closed on
legal holidays.

Curbside Pickup of Yard Waste -
The third collection week of the spring is the week of June 16 on
your regular trash day.
Approved yard waste for curbside pickup includes:
leaves, grass clippings, dead flowers or plants, wood chips, hedge
clippings, pine needles and brush 1 inch or less in diameter. Brush 1-
4 inches in diameter must be cut in maximum 3 -foot lengths and tied in
bundles not to exceed 75 pounds in weight or 2 feet in diameter. A
maximum of 5 bundles may be put out with the regular refuse on collection
day. Note: these are incinerated and not recycled.
Yard waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags available at most
grocery and hardware stores or loose in garbage barrels without lids.
It will not be collected if placed in plastic trash bags. Legal
holidays delay curbside yard waste collection, just like trash and
recycling.

Compost Bins
- Compost bins can be purchased for
$30 at the DPW Operations Facility, 1557 Mass. Ave. Residents must first pay
for the bin at 1557 Mass. Ave. and then pick it up at the Hartwell Avenue
Composting Facility, 60 Hartwell Ave. Call 781-861-2757 with
questions.

Compost Facility Directions -
The Minuteman Hazardous
Products Facility is located at 60 Hartwell Avenue. From Lexington Center,
take Bedford Street west, over Rte. 128, to Hartwell Avenue (exit 31 B off
Route 128). Stay in the right lane and enter the “jug handle” before the
first set of lights. At the end of the jug handle, continue straight
through the traffic light onto Hartwell Avenue. Travel 0.5 miles and the
facility will be on your left after the bike path.
