How can I get a utility wire fixed near my house? DPW employees are not equipped to go near high voltage wires, and the Town in general is not responsible for utility wires. If there is a tree limb on an electric wire, contact NStar. The utility companies also fix low hanging wires. If you know which utility's wire is problematic, then contact that utility. If you do not know whose wire it is, you can call the police non-emergency number at 781-862-1212 and a police officer will drive by to see if the wire is dangerous and the Fire Department should be brought in to secure the scene. The police officer will also be able to tell which utility is responsible for that wire.
If the wire is obviously a live wire that could harm someone, call 911 immediately.
The top wire is usually for electricity, the middle wire is usually for the phone, and the lowest is for cable.
