Lexington Reads continues

Lexington Reads aims to cultivate the culture of reading, discussion, and lifelong learning in Lexington. Sharing a common book among people who live, work and attend school in Lexington creates a kind of town-wide book club adding richness and depth to the experience of reading as well as fostering community. Support from the Trustees of the Cary Memorial Library will insure that Lexington Reads is a yearly tradition.

Lexington Reads and
the Lexington Historical Society

The Lexington Historical Society is pleased to sponsor the Lexington Reads program this spring. We encourage Lexington residents of all ages to join with us in a series of programs inspired by two important and entertaining books about Paul Revere’s journey to Lexington on the eve of the American Revolution: Paul Revere’s Ride, by David Hackett Fischer, and The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere, illustrated by Lexington resident Christopher Bing.

Paul Revere’s Ride

by David Hackett Fischer

The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere

illustrated by Christopher Bing

These books are selections for the spring as companion books for adults (the Fischer book) and children (the Bing book) with the hope of involving Lexingtonians of all ages in the program. The Lexington Historical Society will support the Paul Revere reading activities and notes “Lexington's prominent role in the beginning of the American Revolution is well known yet not always appreciated by those of us who live here. Selection of these two books about Paul Revere's (and William Dawes') journey to Lexington on April 18, 1775 will provide a wonderful opportunity to focus the community on the town's history and historical resources.” On behalf of the Lexington Reads program, we encourage your participation in this program, which generated so much enthusiasm in Lexington this year.
