One of the tasks that the public asks of government is to make
sure that the things that people do in their daily lives don’t endanger or
unnecessarily annoy others. To do this job, Lexington has created a system of
permits and licenses. These permits cover everything from alcoholic beverages to
yard sales, and help us to know about activities and events before they happen
so we can plan for them and help them occur safely. As an example, knowing that
you are having a parade helps us to plan for road closures and traffic control.
The permit does this for us.
Some permits have associated costs. To see the costs of
permits, follow this link to Fees and Charges.
This Directory of Licenses and Permits is meant to help you
understand what permits the town issues and to let you know how to get them. The
telephone number or extension number of the department to contact for more
information is provided. Where an extension number is given, the main telephone
number is (781)-862-0500. Often, additional information can also be found in the
department's homepage. Follow this link to a directory of
departments.
It is not a complete list, but we will keep working until all
of the Municipality’s permits are here.
